Caring for the Children of Africa began in November 2007 following the second visit by Annie Copley to the slums of Nairobi, Kenya where she worked as a volunteer with GVN (Global Volunteer Network). Annie’s passion for the people of Africa stems from this work in the HIV/AIDS programs, working with the poorest of the poor.

After returning to Australia after 3 months in Kenya in 2006, Annie felt the need to continue the work and together with her dear friend  Lauro Martire, held their first  fundraising dinner in his popular Café/Restaurant, East Terrace Continental – Lauro’s hard work and dedication contributed to make the evening a huge success – the dinner was fully sponsored and produced such rave reviews, it was decided to make this a yearly event.

Money raised at this popular dinner and other ongoing events continues to give hope to the people of Kenya providing food, water, medical and building supplies to the HIV/AIDS clinics, IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) Camps, orphanages and schools throughout Nairobi and surrounding districts.

Caring for the Children of Africa Inc is a registered non-profit charity with the main focus on supporting people affected by political unrest, famine and disease.
